The Bufo Alvarius Experience at Pixan Sanctuary
Nestled in the Mayan jungle just outside Tulum, Pixan Sanctuary offers an intimate and personalized Bufo Alvarius experience surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of nature. Home to a private cenote and secluded cave, our sanctuary provides a peaceful setting to disconnect from everyday life and dedicate meaningful time to yourself.
We invite guests to spend a minimum of six hours with us, allowing the experience to extend beyond the ceremony itself. With thoughtful preparation, individualized care, nourishing food, and opportunities to explore the sanctuary, each visit is designed around your personal needs and intentions.
Preparation and Ceremony
Your journey begins before you arrive. Every guest completes a comprehensive medical and psychological intake, followed by a private preparation call to discuss intentions, address questions, and ensure you feel informed and prepared.
Upon arrival, we take time to connect and settle into the surroundings before beginning the ceremony. Drawing on more than seven years of experience, our approach emphasizes attentive facilitation, careful preparation, and a grounded, supportive environment that respects the deeply personal nature of working with Bufo Alvarius.
A Day at the Sanctuary
Rather than following a fixed itinerary, we encourage you to make the day your own.
You may choose to begin with a swim in our private cenote, meditate in the cave, explore the jungle, or simply enjoy the stillness of the sanctuary. We believe that spending time in nature, away from the distractions of daily life, can be a valuable part of preparing for and processing a profound experience.
Following your ceremony, you will have space to rest and reconnect at your own pace. A freshly prepared vegetarian meal is included, offering an opportunity to nourish yourself and gently transition back into the day.
Integration and Continued Support
Our care continues after you leave Pixan. Each guest receives a take-home integration journal and a private follow-up call, typically two days after the ceremony.
This conversation offers an opportunity to revisit your experience, explore any insights or challenges, and consider how to meaningfully incorporate them into your daily life.
More Than a Ceremony
After more than seven years of facilitating Bufo Alvarius ceremonies, we have come to recognize the importance of the environment and care surrounding the experience. Through our work, we have observed that the most meaningful treatment outcomes are often associated with experiences that allow ample time for preparation, rest, reflection, and integration. This understanding has shaped our approach at Pixan Sanctuary.
Rather than offering a brief appointment, we have created an intimate retreat experience where nature, nourishment, personal attention, and thoughtful integration come together to support a deeper process of self-discovery.
We invite you to step away from the demands of everyday life and immerse yourself in the tranquility of the Mayan jungle, where nature, stillness, and sacred experiences create space for reflection, spiritual connection, and inner transformation.
